Dinah 1-9

1. Xylem- the tissue of the tree provide support for the water and nutrients to transport from the roots throughout the plant.

2. Lichen- the green alga substance associating with fungus branches on or shields the base of the tree and usually occur in hot, tropical environments.

3. Pollen- it is the orange-colored powdery substance that has an elliptical shape to it. Pollen fertilizes the flower so that it can mature and blossom. Pollinators such as bees carry pollen allowing it to reproduce.

4. Modified Root of a Plant- the root of this plant is horizontal on the bottom where it absorbs water and nutrients along with keepin the plant firm and steady in the soil.

5. Long-Day Plant- this wild native sunflower is an example of a long-day plant because it requires six or more hours of exposure to sunlight daily in order for it to produce its flower.

6. Epithelial Tissue- my hand is an example of the epithelial tissue associating with the epidermis or the skin's surface which made up entirely of closely-packed skin cells.

7. Heterotroph- the rabbit is an organism that gains its nutrients from another source, an autotroph. This rabbit gets it nutrients by eating plants, which is an autotroph.

8. Autotroph- this plant is a type of organism that makes nutrients to nourish itself and is a source of feeding other organisms as well.

9. Flower Ovary- in the inner center of the flower, there is the lower part of the pistil (the orange thin strips sticking up) and the ovary matures the seeds to become fruit.
